How to use
- Enter each time span on its own line in H:MM or H:MM:SS. Use the sign button to subtract a line.
- Multiply a line when the same span repeats, or paste a column of times to add them all at once.
- Read the running total in H:MM:SS, decimal and minutes, then copy, print or export.
Worked example: Adding video lengths
An editor has clips of 0:12:30, 0:08:45 and 1:02:15. The sum is 750 + 525 + 3,735 = 5,010 seconds, shown as 1:23:30 or 1.39 hours.
Subtracting a 0:03:30 intro that will be cut leaves 4,800 seconds, exactly 1:20:00. Seconds are added as integers, so there is no floating-point drift.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add seconds?
Yes. Type H:MM:SS or 30s. Totals are kept in whole seconds and shown as H:MM:SS.
What happens with a negative total?
A minus sign is shown in front of the total. This is useful when comparing planned against actual time.
How many lines can I add?
There is no limit. Add lines one by one or paste a column.
How is the decimal figure rounded?
Half-up to two decimals, once, from the integer total. The H:MM:SS figure is always exact.
Does the time calculator save my lines?
Yes, in this browser only, so you can come back later. Reset clears them.
What is the difference from the hours calculator?
They share the same engine. This page is tuned for general time arithmetic; the hours calculator page adds pay and timesheet wording.
