About
What HoursCalc is, how the calculators work, and where the data comes from.
What this site is
HoursCalc is a free collection of hours, pay, date and conversion calculators: time cards, timesheets, paychecks, overtime, rounding, dates, percentages, fractions and sales tax. Everything runs in your browser; there is no account and nothing is uploaded.
How the calculations work
The engine works in integer minutes and integer cents, never floating-point money, and rounds once at display time. Overtime is split in the order that avoids double counting: double time first, then daily overtime, then weekly overtime on the remaining regular hours per fixed 7-day work week. Rounding applies to each punch, never to totals, and the unrounded figure is always shown alongside. Every engine function is covered by automated tests for normal cases, midnight crossing, zero hours and threshold boundaries.
Data sources
Every reference table carries the date it was last verified and shows it on the calculator that uses it. Tax and labor rules change; confirm with the official source before relying on a figure for payroll.

Nothing is uploaded
Your entries auto-save in your own browser under a versioned key. Share links compress the calculator state into the URL itself, so a link you send contains the data and nothing is stored on a server. See the privacy policy for the two optional third-party lookups.
