How to use
- Type in and out times as four digits in 24-hour format, such as 0700 and 1530. No AM or PM is needed and the cursor moves on after four digits.
- Enter unpaid break minutes for each day, or turn on auto-deduct in Options for long shifts.
- Add a rate to see pay with overtime. Print, export or share the time card.
Worked example: Five 0700 to 1530 shifts
A warehouse worker clocks 0700 to 1530 Monday to Friday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Each day is 8 hours 30 minutes on the clock minus 30 minutes, so 8 hours worked, and the week is 40 hours.
With the Federal preset nothing is overtime at exactly 40 hours. At $22.00 an hour gross pay is 40 × $22.00 = $880.00. A night shift of 2200 to 0600 is read as crossing midnight and counts 8 hours.
Frequently asked questions
How do I type military time?
Use four digits: 0700, 1530, 2215. Three digits also work (915 is 0915) and 21:15 with a colon is accepted. 2400 means midnight at the end of the day.
What about shifts past midnight?
If the out time is smaller than the in time, the shift ends the next day. 2200 to 0600 is 8 hours.
Can I switch back to AM/PM?
Yes. Open Options and set Clock format to 12h. Your entries are kept and shown in the new format.
Does overtime work the same way?
Yes. The same engine applies: daily double time first, then daily overtime, then weekly overtime on what is left, per the preset you choose.
How is 0000 different from 2400?
0000 is the start of the day and 2400 is the end of the same day. Use 2400 as an out time when a shift ends exactly at midnight.
Can I print this as a timesheet?
Print gives a one-page sheet with the period, each day in 24-hour format, totals and signature lines.
