How to use
Watch the live Zulu clock, or enter a date and time.
Pick the direction: Zulu to a zone, or a zone to Zulu, and choose the time zone from the list.
Read the converted time, the UTC offset and whether daylight saving is in effect.
Worked example: 1500Z on 20 October 2026
1500Z is 11:00 AM in New York (UTC-04:00, daylight time still in effect), 8:00 AM in Los Angeles (UTC-07:00), 4:00 PM in London (UTC+01:00) and 8:30 PM in Kolkata (UTC+05:30).
Going the other way, 9:00 AM in Sydney on the same date is 2200Z the previous day, because Sydney is at UTC+11:00 during its summer.
Frequently asked questions
What is Zulu time?
+
Zulu is the military and aviation name for UTC, Coordinated Universal Time. The letter Z is the NATO phonetic designator for the zero-offset zone. Zulu never changes for daylight saving.
Is Zulu the same as GMT?
+
For everyday purposes yes. UTC is defined by atomic clocks while GMT is a time zone; they agree to within a second.
Where does the zone list come from?
+
From your browser's Intl API, which carries the IANA time zone database with daylight saving rules. No time zone API is called.
How is daylight saving detected?
+
The offset on your date is compared with the zone's January and July offsets; if the zone changes offset during the year and your date uses the larger one, DST is in effect.
How do I write Zulu time?
+
Four digits and a Z: 1500Z. The live clock shows it with seconds.
Why can my result be on a different date?
+
Large offsets push the local time across midnight. The result shows the full date so this is always visible.
