Worked example: Days until Christmas 2026 from 20 October 2026
From 20 October to 25 December 2026 is 66 days, which is 9 weeks and 3 days, or 1,584 hours.
If the target is in the past the countdown shows a negative value and switches its label to "since", so the same tool answers "how many days since".
Frequently asked questions
Does today count as a day?
The countdown measures from the current moment to midnight at the start of the target date, so the day count is the number of full days remaining.
What if the date has passed?
The number turns negative and the label changes to "since", counting elapsed time instead.
Can I count business days instead?
Yes, switch the mode to Business days for working days to a deadline.
Does the share link include the date?
Yes. The whole calculator state is compressed into the link. Nothing is stored on a server.
Does it work across time zones?
The countdown uses your device clock and local midnight for the target date.
Can I see weeks or hours?
The result card lists total days and total hours; switch to Difference mode for weeks, months and years.
