How to use

  1. Choose the direction: hourly to salary or salary to hourly.
  2. Enter the amount, hours per week, weeks per year and any unpaid vacation weeks.
  3. Read the equivalent for every pay period in the result card.

Worked example: $25 an hour at 40 hours a week

$25.00 × 40 hours × 52 weeks = $52,000.00 a year. That is $4,333.33 a month, $2,166.67 semi-monthly, $2,000.00 bi-weekly and $1,000.00 a week.

With 2 weeks of unpaid vacation there are 50 paid weeks and the annual figure drops to $50,000.00. Going the other way, a $52,000 salary at 40 hours a week is $25.00 an hour.

Frequently asked questions

How many hours is full time?

40 hours a week is the usual assumption, which is 2,080 hours a year. Change hours per week if your schedule differs.

How do unpaid vacation weeks work?

They are subtracted from the weeks per year before multiplying, so pay reflects only the weeks you are actually paid.

Is overtime included?

No. This is a straight conversion. Use the Overtime Calculator to add time-and-a-half hours.

Why is monthly not weekly times 4?

A year has 52 weeks but 12 months, so a month is 52 ÷ 12 = 4.33 weeks on average.

Does it account for taxes?

No. These are gross amounts. Use the Hourly Paycheck Calculator for take-home pay.

What about salaried people working more than 40 hours?
